Cape Girardeau City Employees Health Insurance Plan

November 4th, 2008

Last Monday, The Cape Girardeau City Council decided that there will be no increase in the rates charged for covering families, the deductibles will still the same and they will continue to offer a plan with a health savings accont.

The health savings account aims to keep costs down, thus will make people more carefully about their monthly cost on health care. As said by Mayor Jay Knudtson”

“The good thing is they gut out a sore throat and don’t go to the doctor,” Mayor Jay Knudtson said. “We have to drive that mentality. I’m not saying that if they are sick, don’t go to the doctor, but use discretion.”

Did Health Insurance Work In Medical School?

September 26th, 2008
When you plan to start medical school next year, and you are concerned about your health insurance, you might read this on. Since you can not work, it might be a little concern about coverage. Some of you maybe know that some school do provide health insurance, but not sure about intuition.
Well, this health insurance coverage depends on what state you are in. The only advantage of a school plan is that it is guaranteed issue. Most school sponsored policies are limited benefit ($50,000 or so) and your primary care provider is the campus clinic. The cost is in addition to tuition, and if you are like most of us, added on to your student loan.
The advantage to an individual plan is that you own the policy - not the university, or for that matter not your employer either. When you graduate you will still have insurance. An individual policy probably costs less as well.
