Indian Health Insurance Plan Go Live In 2008.

Recently, the US government has approve an Indiana Health Insurance program that will extend health insurance coverage too low-income people. But, some term must fullfill to get this coverage:

  1. Incomes do not exceed 200% of the federal poverty level. Individual, $20,420; Family of four, $41,300.
  2. Must be uninsured at least six months.
  3. Not be eligible for employer-provided health insurance.

This is the chance for you who live in Indiana and uninsured before. Although there is some term, but i think you’ll get to it. With this plan, you will get an annual deductible $1,100.If the medical cost exceed $1,100, then you can get health insurance coverage with $300,000 annual limit.

It’s interesting the article linked states this bill was approved by the Bush administration AND is funded by a cigarette tax. Why is it ok to approve a cigarette tax for this bill and not the expansion of the SCHIP? Politics as usual.
